Team Vajra : RC Drone Club
Team Vajra is the official RC Drone Club of Marathwada Mitra Mandal's College of Engineering (MMCOE), Pune. Established in 2022, the club is a student-driven initiative dedicated to designing, developing, and deploying advanced unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) for competitive, industrial, and research applications. Since its inception, Team Vajra has grown into one of the institution's leading technical clubs, earning recognition at national and international drone competitions through innovation, technical excellence, and teamwork. As an interdisciplinary undergraduate team, Team Vajra manages the complete drone development lifecycle in-house, from mechanical design and aerodynamics to embedded electronics, flight controller configuration, firmware tuning, autonomous navigation, testing, and mission execution. Members gain practical exposure by working on FPV racing drones, autonomous UAVs, aerial mapping platforms, disaster management solutions, and custom-built aerial systems. The club emphasizes experiential learning, enabling students to bridge theoretical concepts with real-world engineering challenges while developing industry-ready technical skills. Over the years, Team Vajra has consistently represented MMCOE at prestigious competitions, achieving World Rank 3 and AIR 2 at the Technoxian World Robotics Championship 2025, following an earlier World Rank 4 and AIR 3 in 2024. The team has also secured podium finishes at local-level events such as WARTECH Drone Drag and has actively participated in the SAE Aerothon, showcasing its expertise in UAV design, mission planning, and aerospace engineering. Through continuous research, innovation, workshops, and collaborative projects, Team Vajra remains committed to pushing the boundaries of drone technology and autonomous systems. Beyond competitions, Team Vajra fosters a culture of continuous learning through technical workshops, peer mentoring, and hands-on project development. Members work across diverse domains including drone electronics, embedded systems, AI-based autonomy, flight dynamics, computer vision, and UAV prototyping, preparing them for careers in aerospace, robotics, defense technology, embedded engineering, and the rapidly growing drone industry. Guided by experienced faculty and supported by industry collaborations, Team Vajra continues to inspire innovation while contributing to India's evolving UAV ecosystem.
