PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT CENTER
The Product Development Centre (PDC) at the Mechanical Engineering Department, MMCOE, Pune, is an industry-sponsored laboratory supported by Mechatol Product Engineering Solutions Pvt. Ltd., Pune. The centre provides a platform for students to work on real-time industrial problems and gain hands-on experience in product design and development. Various innovative products have been developed in this lab with active participation from students and faculty members, contributing to skill development, research culture, and industry–academia collaboration.
Activities and Product Development:
Rechargeable Vein Detector Wrist Band
Multifunctional Gas Cylinder Stand with Leak Detection
Innovative Colour Coded Disk Brake Caliper for modern vehicle
Skill Development Program on SolidWorks Software
Rechargeable Vein Detector Wrist Band

The present invention discloses a wrist wearing one of kind vein finder machine. The vein finder consists of universal adjustable wrist with arm band. Arm band equipped with an vibrator assembly on both side of hand to activate the vein. Arm band also consist of infrared emitting lights at the periphery of the band surface. The power source for the vibrating band and LED light is given at the bottom of device with rechargeable batteries. When device is attached to the human hand, it vibrates at particular iteration. This vibration stimulates the blood veins which increases the blood flow. The colour light is impinging on wrist or hand surface. Thus, the glands in the skin tissues will absorb the light depends on the spectral absorption rate, which in turn influence blood flow.
Multifunctional Gas Cylinder Stand with Leak Detection
The invention is a smart gas cylinder monitoring and safety device. It consists of a platform with a mark-scale/load-cell mechanism that measures the cylinder weight and displays the remaining gas percentage on a digital scale. The system includes a height-adjustable telescopic beam and is powered by a safe, spark-proof electronic transmitter. In addition, it contains a multifunctional gas leak detector that continuously monitors cylinder and stove leakages. Alerts are provided through indicator lights, sound beeps, and electronic notifications. The device is interchangeable, removable, and user-friendly, ensuring safety and timely refilling of gas cylinders.
Innovative Colour Coded Disk Brake Caliper for modern vehicle
This invention discloses the unique technique discloses the wear factor associated with disk pad to each friction pad of a disc is given a Particular paint on lower end of disk pad device in operation, once the pad is worn to associate allowable wear limit thereby to cause a warning colour is highlighted and the disk to be lit with that colour and indicating the operator that disk pad is worn out and to need to replace, various depth gauges and sensor based devices are innovated till date, but this invention work very easy methodology and easily any one can detect the wear rate of disk pad.
Skill Development Program on SolidWorks Software
The Department of Mechanical Engineering successfully organized a 20-hour Skill Development Program on SolidWorks software for second- and third-year students, conducted from 24/03/2025 to 11/04/2025. This program was led by faculty members—Dr. S. S. Lahane, Dr. A. S. Suryawanshi, and Ms. A. B. Parkar and aimed to enhance students’ practical knowledge and skills in 3D CAD modelling using SolidWorks. The initiative was designed to bridge the gap between theoretical concepts taught in the classroom and their real-world applications in mechanical design and product development.
