When I joined college, I thought autonomy would mainly mean a different examination system. But over time, I realized that its biggest impact has been giving me more opportunities to learn beyond the classroom.
Because our college is autonomous, we get exposure to activities like workshops, hackathons, club events, and industry-oriented learning that complement our academics. As someone interested in AI and technology, I have been able to explore areas that are not limited to the textbook syllabus and gain practical knowledge through projects and hands-on experiences.
I also feel that autonomy has made learning more engaging. Instead of focusing only on final exams, we are encouraged to participate in presentations, assignments, and other activities that help develop skills such as communication, teamwork, and problem-solving. These experiences have helped me become more confident and prepared for real-world challenges.
What I appreciate most is that autonomy creates an environment where students are encouraged to take initiative. Whether it is joining a club, participating in competitions, or exploring new technologies, I feel I have had the freedom and support to grow both academically and personally. Looking back, autonomy has helped me become a more curious, proactive, and independent learner.
